After Jenny went back to New York, Mick sent a wire to Ryan, telling them that Jenny had filed for a divorce and was heading to England. The two sisters never spoke again.

When Ryan told Abby, she just looked out the window. “I’m glad Papa is gone. This would have killed him. To think she would do this. She just picked up and left her family like this. I doubt even Mama would forgive her for this.”

“Whatever she's done, Mick and Holly are still family.”

“Of course they are. What makes you think they're not?”

“Well, just so you know, I've asked them to come to visit with us for a few days. This way, Holly can see the girls, and Mick can have time to figure out what he plans to do.”

“He can stay here as long as he needs. Holly can share the room with the girls, just until we can get the upstairs done and have the bedrooms there. We were thinking on extending the house anyhow. We can always use more bedrooms. The girls, Holly, Mary, Ryan, and the twins could have upstairs, Gideon can have Papa's old room, and we have ours.”

Ryan put his arms around her and held her close.

“You know, that’s why I love you, Abby. Don’t ever change. I love you just the way you are.”

She looked up at him and smiled.

The house was enlarged to accommodate the big family, and they even added a porch with a balcony overlooking Molly's roses down below. That way, she had enough bedrooms for everyone and a few guest rooms.
